Pax Press is a small independent press set up initially in 2010 to publish a book of Libby Hathorn's poems about the Vietnam War, which could only be accepted by the Australian War Memorial in book form. Vietnam Reflections was thus the first publication by Pax Press.
Following this, Libby, who works in Nepal from time to time with the Mitrataa Foundation, decided to publish her story Sangita's Singing which tells of the transition of a village child to a large city school in Kathmandu. This was also done to launch the work a young Nepali artist, Bandana Tulachan as an illustrator. It was written as a means to tell the story of a child in another culture (as in an earlier Hathorn book set in China did, The River, Curriculum Press, 1999). The Australian launch of Sangita's Singing at Orange Public Library was held in July, 2013.
From 2012 to 2013 Libby worked with Rachael Bailey on an Australia-wide compilation of poetry and published it under the Pax Press banner Women's Work; a collection of contemporary women's poetry. Recently launched by Emeritus Professor Elizabeth Webby at the State Library of NSW, this illustrated volume has already attracted much interest.
